From the recording What Have I Done?

“What Have I Done?” was written back in December 2016. It’s a murder ballad that was inspired by the old time country artists that I would listen to. This one has a bit more of a modern edge to it as it builds, but focuses on a man’s heat-of-the-moment emotional breakdown…which he instantly regrets.

Lyrics

Last night she left me in a hurry and a huff
She said she was done and that our love was cut off
I tried to reason as my heart slowly died
What could have went wrong in my true love’s eyes
Like the thunder that front door slammed
As she ran to her car in the cold nights fog
She told me she was seeing another man
Then tore off my ring and from her hand

What have I done
What have I done
I lost the only woman that I ever loved

Well I was out driving around the break of dawn
On my way to work in my old half ton
And I saw my girl’s car parked outside my best friends house
So I pulled over to the side
Then the door opened and they stepped out
And I watched them share a kiss as she buttoned up her blouse
My stomach turned and head spun
I reached under my seat and grabbed my gun

What have I done
What have I done
I killed the only woman I ever loved
Yes I killed the only woman I ever loved
